Established in 2026 by longtime friends and collaborators, Signbearer Records serves as a central hub for a close-knit community of composers/performers/artists.

Focused on creating the newest iteration of Chicago’s rich creative music scene (while simultaneously creating work rooted in real, lived experiences), Signbearer exists at the intersection of esoteric thought and earthly realities.

Genre is less important to Signbearer than presenting a window into its artists’ scene, but most of its albums have a heavy jazz/improvised music bent—while still looking to the future and open to potential changes.

Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the veneration of fire.

Signbearer is, therefore, very “in the tradition”.
